FAA Loses Track of N-Number Registration of 119,000 Planes


The Federal Aviation Administration’s aircraft registry has lost track of as many as one-third of the 357,000 planes in the United States, creating a loophole that the agency fears could be exploited by terrorists and drug traffickers.

Every single plane — commercial and private — are going be required to be re-registered. The FAA will start canceling registrations next year.
