Narrow Escape of British Citizens in Remote Oil Fields of Libya

Hercules RAF C-130 aircraft landed in the Libyan desert twice over the weekend to pick up British nationals and foreign citizens working in remote oil camps.

One of the planes had a narrow escape after a bullet passed through the cockpit and ricocheted off a pilot’s helmet, the BBC reported. The aircraft took at least two hits on the right side of the fuselage, but made it safely to Malta.

An insurgent group had mistaken the RAF aircraft for a Gaddafi regime airplane.
