US congressional officials were informed of US strikes on Syria before President Trump made the public announcement, according administration official.

After 9:00 p.m. CT, officials from the US Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia stated that no additional attacks are planned tonight. A Pentagon official on Friday night in Washington D.C. said that “yesterday” (Thursday April 12,2018) the United States acquired evidence that the Syrian regime was responsible for the chemical attacks that occurred on April 7, 2018. Mattis also stated that the United States is reasonably certain that chlorine was used, and that the use of Sarin is not ruled out.
