Personal photos and video of Neda Agha-Soltan surfaced on media outlets within two days after her death by gunshot on a Tehran street on June 20, 2009. Her music teacher is just to her right.

HEARTBREAKING: Iranian citizens and a doctor help a woman (so far identified as NEDA) to the ground after she was shot by Basij — a gunman hiding on the rooftop of a house. An initial report incorrectly stated that the man in the blue and white-striped shirt was Neda’s father. In fact, it was Neda’s music teacher Hamid Panahi.

Iranian citizens and protesters come to the aid of a woman in her 20’s who appears to have been fatally shot in the upper chest. Video shows blood obstructing airway as citizens desperately attempt to apply pressure to a gunshot wound in the upper chest. The innocent woman was shot at 19:05 June 20th, 2009 at Karekar Ave., at the corner crossing Khosravi Street and Salehi Street. Ironically, the woman was shot about 500 feet from the Tehran Heart Center.

A report from the original YouTube Channel poster (hamedfrt) states the following report. The YouTube user “havedfrt” asks viewers to tell the world …

“A young woman who was standing aside with her father watching the protests was shot by a basij member hiding on the rooftop of a civilian house. He had clear shot at the girl and could not miss her. However, he aimed straight her heart. I am a doctor, so I rushed to try to save her. But the impact of the gunshot was so fierce that the bullet had blasted inside the victim’s chest, and she died in less than 2 minutes.

The protests were going on about 1 kilometers away in the main street and some of the protesting crowd were running from tear gass used among them, towards Salehi St.

Please let the world know”

According to Hamid Panahi, Neda’s music teacher and good friend who was with Neda when she died, a driver in a car coming from the other direction on the street urged the crowd to put her into his car.

A frantic search for the nearest hospital began. The car took a wrong turn down a dead end. Neda’s aids switched her mortally wounded body to another car.

Protesters and bystanders screamed at drivers to clear a path in the congested traffic as the car made its way to Shariati Hospital.

The medical staff of Shariati Hospital rush her into surgery, but it was too late. She had died before she arrived at the emergency room.
