Benghazi Ammunition Depot Blast Kills At Least 27


At least 17 people were killed in an explosion at an ammunition storage facility at a military base in the rebel stronghold of Benghazi in northeastern Libya on Friday, hospital officials said

The death toll in a massive ammunition depot explosion rose to 27 near Benghazi, Libya Saturday. Rebels suffered a major setback in Benghazi after a massive arms and ammunition depot outside Benghazi was destroyed in a massive explosion. Loyalist are suspect of causing the explosion to limit ammunition available to rebels.

The crater was three times the size of a football field. Shell cases the size of adult legs were stacked near the edge of the ammunition depot.

Forces loyal to Colonel Moammar Gaddafi broke through rebel lines today in dawn attacks on opposition-held cities.
