Emergency calls to 911 reporting an active shooter began to be received by dispatchers about 10:39 AM MDT, and first responders began to arrive within 6 minutes of the initial call.
Thirteen victims were transported to the University Medical Center of El Paso. Two children, ages 2 and 9, were stabilized at the University Medical Center of El Paso, and were transferred to the neighboring El Paso Children’s Hospital.
Eleven victims were transported to Del Sol Medical Center. The Del Sol Medical Center patients are 35 to 82 years old.
Shortly after the shooting scene was secured, police began a homicide investigation and were assisted by the ATF, FBI, US Customers and Border Protection, El Paso Sheriff’s Department, and Texas Department of Public Safety. Police determined that 20 people died in the shooting and 26 were injured. The state of Texas will be the lead agency.
